Welcome to the new 'Crossroad Resonance' (tentative title) forum, dedicated to local musicians and artists in the state of Indiana. If you're a band or musician not from Indy, don't worry, there's a place for you to reach out and connect as well. Maybe you're an alien from Mars or Neptune or Pluto. If so, welcome!
I think it's safe to say we'd like to hear different musical varieties from all over the world, but this particular forum is specifically dedicated to musicians in the Greater Indianapolis Area (don't shy away if you're from a surrounding state or the mid-west in general!). Everyone is welcome here but please keep in mind the "target audience".
This humble website is akin to a local TV show on channel 147 that only comes on at midnight Tuesdays, and even then the reception is a little fuzzy and mariachi bands keep playing in the background. However, we're constantly struggling to get a better time slot and repeat airings throughout the week. We got 12 episodes in 'Season One', and now we're trying to get 18 episodes for 'Season Two'. It's that type of situation.
Our 5 main goals here are:
1) Helping network independent bands and unsigned artists from the state and region. Shootin' the shit about the ups and downs of the current scene. Generally trying to provide a nurturing environment and online community for local bands and artists to exchange ideas (that isn't all Myspace/Facebook dominated).
2) Giving whatever little extra exposure we can towards recognizing the many talented bands from the Indy area, and providing a unique platform through which musicians might better collaborate and brainstorm with fellow "Hoosiers".
3) Local bands looking for members, or who just want to share their songs or promote an upcoming show, this is a new place to do it. We'll strive to make this a viable resource for local musicians to drum up a little extra publicity and get a few more people out to the shows, downloading the music, or buying the CD's.
4) Looking for flyer designs, sticker solutions, marketing ideas, tee shirts, studio recommendations, good venues, favorite equipment brands and everything else that goes along with the process of being a struggling local artist? Share your ideas and solutions here with fellow musicians in the area.
5) Just talking about music, art, and current events. Trying to have a little fun, keep in touch, and meet new people. Teach and learn. Teach and learn. Since we're only talking about Indiana musicians, even getting 100+ members here would be quite a feat wouldn't it?!?!
Well I guess that about wraps it up. Until next time...
